Who we are
Compassberg is the trading name of Matt Diemont, an automation consultancy serving owner-run businesses across South Africa. Contact: WhatsApp 072 549 9559, or see our contact section.
Postal and service address: 4 Kgaka Street, Tuscany Ridge, Potchefstroom, North West, 2520, South Africa. Matt Diemont is the responsible party and acts as Information Officer for the purposes of POPIA.
What we collect on this website
Only what you give us: your name, your contact details, and whatever you choose to tell us about your business when you message us or book a call. We deliberately ask for the minimum we need to respond. What the booking form collects specifically is set out under Booking a call below.
Why we process it
To respond to your enquiry, prepare for and follow up on conversations you request, and — only with your explicit consent — send you relevant information about our services. Our lawful basis is your consent and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries you initiate (POPIA s11).
Booking a call
The booking calendar on this site is provided by Cal.com, Inc. When you book, the form collects your name, email address, phone number and your one-line answer about what most often falls through the cracks, together with the time slot you choose. We ask for the phone number because the call is a phone call — it is how we reach you.
Cal.com processes these details on our behalf as an operator under POPIA sections 20–21, and stores them on servers outside South Africa. We rely on your consent in submitting the form, and on the transfer being necessary to perform the booking you asked for (POPIA s72). Cal.com’s own privacy terms are at cal.com/privacy.
Your booking also creates an entry in our business calendar, hosted by Google, holding your name, your chosen time and the details you gave, so that we keep the appointment. Confirmations and any reminder go to the email address and phone number you provide — these are transactional messages about a booking you made, not marketing.
You can cancel or reschedule at any time using the links in your confirmation email. If you would rather not use the booking form at all, message us on WhatsApp instead and we will arrange a time in the chat — note that WhatsApp is operated by Meta and processes messages under its own terms.
Analytics and hosting
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how this site is used — which pages are viewed, roughly which country a visit came from, and how quickly pages load on real devices. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not follow you to other websites. It has no advertising features, no ad personalisation and no remarketing, and we cannot use it to identify you. Cloudflare processes this measurement on servers outside South Africa (POPIA s72). You may object to this processing at any time using the contact details above.
This website is served from international hosting infrastructure, which means your device's requests (including its IP address) are processed outside South Africa in the ordinary course of loading the page. Fonts and our own scripts are hosted by us. The one third-party script is the Cal.com booking calendar, described under Booking a call. That script loads with the page, so Cal.com receives your device's IP address and may set cookies even if you never book.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your information.
- Send marketing without consent, or continue after you opt out.
- Move your information across borders without telling you.
Client data
When we build systems for clients, we act as an operator under POPIA sections 20–21: we process personal information only with the client’s knowledge and authorisation, under a written operator agreement, with security safeguards under section 19. Client customer data is never used for our own purposes.
Your rights
You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, or complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). We respond within a reasonable time, and always within the periods POPIA prescribes.
Retention
Enquiry and booking records are kept only as long as needed for the purpose you contacted us for, or as law requires, then deleted. If a call does not lead to work together, ask us and we will delete your booking record from Cal.com and our calendar.
